Chapter 37 - Duck & Dive - Skive


Gooseley Park, East Ham, where as a kid I once played football with Bobby Moore.

The bird that can dive the deepest is the Emperor Penguin, which, let’s be honest, has to excel at something, what with being a bird that can’t fly and struggles to walk on dry land. They can dive not too far short of 2,000 feet.

I wonder who came up with the strange idea of calling a chocolate biscuit a penguin, there doesn’t seem to be any logical link whatsoever. It was down to a certain William MacDonald from Glasgow who founded MacDonald Biscuits in 1928 and came up with Penguins four years later. They were an instant success and flew off the shelves, something that real penguins would have struggled with.
