Gor Blimey, guv, would you Adam and Eve it, is a popular cockney term that can be heard in both past cockney musicals Mary Poppins and Half a Sixpence.
Dick Van Dyke will probably go down in movie history, and dare I say beyond, as giving us the worst cockney accent of all time in his portrayal of Bert the chimneysweep alongside Julie Andrews in the Mary Poppins film of 1964, but it’s a lesser-known fact that he actually paid Walt Disney $4,000 to play Mr Dawes Senior in the same movie as he wanted the part so badly. He was so desperate he originally offered to play the part free of charge but Walt Disney, such a kind man, rejected his kind offer so money had to change hands for the actor to get the part, definitely in the wrong direction. Talk about a Mickey Mouse company. Would you Adam and Eve it?
