Chapter 11 - Mince Pies - Eyes


Revisiting what was East Ham Granada where I saw The Beatles in 1963

You probably guessed right, eagles are top of the charts by a country mile with most of them having eight times better eyesight than humans, thus the term eagle-eyed.

The eagle is closely followed, although not too closely for catastrophic reasons, by the owl, no great surprise there either, but in third place, as a complete 100/1 outsider, comes the mantis shrimp. Yes, the mantis shrimp, a creature that most of us haven’t even heard of. It can almost see the invisible. Hang on, how can you see the invisible? How do you know when you’ve run out of invisible ink? Why did H.G. Well’s Invisible Man wear clothes? I just don’t see it, but by all accounts a mantis shrimp does.
